Day 1

  • Zhygylgan — "Fallen Earth" Plateau

    Explore the dramatic sunken plateau of Zhygylgan, where vast sections of the earth have collapsed to create an eerie, fractured landscape right at the edge of the Caspian Sea — a geological wonder unlike anywhere else.

  • Shakpak Ata — Underground Mosque

    Visit the remarkable medieval underground mosque of Shakpak Ata, carved directly into the cliffside rock. One of the most significant sacred sites in western Kazakhstan, its carved columns and ancient inscriptions are deeply moving.

  • Kapam Sai Canyon

    Explore one of Mangystau's most enigmatic sites. Hundreds of perfectly round boulders, some as tall as a person, are scattered across the steppe — remnants of ancient seabed formations millions of years old.

  • Kokala — Light Snack Lunch

    Stop at the Kokala tract for a light snack lunch amid dramatic desert scenery before continuing east toward the Valley of Castles.

  • Evening — Overnight at Airakty

  • Morning — Drive to Bozzhyra

    Leave Kyzylkup and head for Bozzhyra — the crown jewel of Mangystau. Only 24 km of asphalt before transitioning to dramatic off-road tracks winding through the plateau.

  • Top Panoramas — Martian Viewpoint & Dragon's Crest

    Stand at the edge of Bozzhyra's canyon amphitheatre — a landscape so alien it looks straight out of science fiction. Then walk the razor-sharp Dragon's Crest ridge with vertiginous drops on both sides.

  • Lunch — In the Open Nature

    A light snack lunch enjoyed outdoors against the extraordinary backdrop of Bozzhyra's pale rock spires — one of the most memorable meals of the journey.

  • Evening — Descend to the Lower Location

    Wind down the dirt track to Bozzhyra's lower level, where towering rock pillars rise dramatically from the canyon floor. Dinner and overnight here — an extraordinary place to watch the stars emerge.

Day 6

Bozzhyra → Tuyesu Sand Dunes → Return to Aktau

Best Time to Visit

The ideal time for this tour is from April to October. Spring offers wildflowers and mild temperatures, while autumn provides warm golden light on the rock formations.

Fitness Level

This tour involves moderate walking and some climbs to viewpoints. No technical skills are required, but a reasonable fitness level is recommended for the panorama hikes.
